Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program for aspiring web developers…right? Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition, stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself. The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this “suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why not? Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.
I can honestly say that this has been one of the best contemporaries I have read all year. I do not know if I can exactly put my finger on it, or say the right words but I will do my best. However, I do know that Sandhya delivered a brilliant debut!
Following the characters Dimple and Rishi, both are attending the same summer program but both for different reasons. Dimple was the perfect girl and I loved from the moment she threw her coffee at a boy that would steal her heart. She is intelligent, she is passionate, and her heart is gold. Rishi is the guy who likes to follow the status quo. He doesn't want to cause problems but there is a different side to him wanting to be set free.
This novel is the perfect novel to read. It is so timely that we have a novel with a story like this. It introduces a different culture and shows every side of it in a light-hearted way that will capture the reader from the start. It seemed like this novel was the novel I have been waiting for, everything thing, every scene, was placed perfectly to create this fantastic story.
I know that there were tears that were shed at the end. There was even a point where I almost wanted to scream but then everything looped back. I was happy again. I think I almost cheered. Yes I am weird!
Overall I fell in love in the moment when Dimple met Rishi and I fell even more in love by the last page. If you are looking for a fantastic summer read, don't pass this one up.
I give this book 5 souls!
